The word “reiki” is Japanese for “universal life energy.” It is administered by the gentle laying on of hands, promoting and enhancing the flow of life force energy in the body. Reiki treats the whole person (mind, body, and spirit), and its benefits may include relaxation, feelings of peace and tranquility, stress reduction, and a general sense of well-being. Ashley King is a Philadelphia based holistic psychotherapist, who explores many different avenues of helping her clients find mind, body, and spiritual balance. One of those avenues is through yoga. Up for grabs in this listing is a session of yoga with this dynamic instructor and therapist! See her website for more information: www.ashleykingtherapy.com/

Hello everyone!
Bidding will start November 15 and run through November 22. Bids posted before then will be removed (sorry!)
The auction will close on the 22nd.
If you are the winning bidder on any items, you will receive an emailed total with payment instructions. We ask that payment be sent within ten days from the close of the auction - as holiday season is approaching this is the best way to ensure prompt service. If you win an item and do not receive an email within two days, please make sure we have the correct email address for you (we use the address you use to register with this site. If you prefer a different email address PLEASE send us that via PM or email).
Once an item or service is paid for you will receive an additional email, CC'ed to the seller or offerer of services, to connect you to work out shipping or scheduling. Please keep in the mind the majority of items on this auction are offered by individuals not directly connected with CANTER and we are not directly involved in the shipping of most items. This year, winners of services will be given an e-certificate with serial number before they can schedule their services.
If you pay for an item and do not receive it within a reasonable amount of time, please feel free to contact us immediately so that we can track down your items or offer a refund if necessary. We ask that you do not wait more than one or two months, as that can make it harder for us to make things right for you.
If you are buying an item in the auction as a gift for an approaching Birthday or Christmas, please let us know that as well.
Thanks so much!

Stefany is near and dear to CANTER, as she helps us re-educate our green beans!
With experience in multiple disciplines, Stefany can help you use dressage for whatever goals you have, whether you ride eventers, hunters, or jumpers. We often refer to working with Stefany as "ridden chiropractic work" as she pinpoints the exercises specific horses need to help free up their bodies and find better balance.
Stefany also gives lunge lessons - if you're looking to improve your seat aids, balance, and strength, I can't recommend this enough!
Stefany is located in Germantown, MD, and can travel to you if you are within a reasonable distance (she makes frequent trips to Damascus, and trains occasionally in Northern VA, and is within a reasonable distance to Poolesville, MD)

Inserting pics is really easy! First copy the URL of the photo (the one ending in .jpg or .gif) into your post. Then highlight it, and click the little icon that looks like a picture (to the right of the one that looks like a globe, and under the S That will embed the URL of your photo between two "IMG" tags and should display it within your post. (to get the URL of your picture, open it up and right-click on it. Then go to "properties" and the URL should be listed there. Highlight and copy it )

"Not By a Long Shot: A Season At a Hard Luck Horse Track" tells the story of a year in the life of Suffolk (aka "sufferin'") Downs.
From Publishers Weekly:
"Thornton narrates a long season at Boston's Suffolk Downs racetrack, a blue-collar gambling bastion struggling for survival in the casino age. Thornton—who has spent his life around racetracks as a gambler, groom, reporter, announcer and PR man—possesses a deep sympathy for and understanding of the dynamics and contradictions that sustain this threatened world. As our tour director, he introduces the reader to hard-luck horses and eccentric jockeys, gambling scandals and betting strategies, as well as the ice and rain that inevitably make the sport of kings in New England a muddy mess. Thornton's credentials are impeccable, he has unrivaled access, and he delivers keen observations in a style that alternates between workmanlike and poetic."
This book rings true for anyone who has ever spent any time at a claiming track - full of characters, shining moments of the best racing has to offer coupled with the worst. Sometimes a little depressing, but sometimes equally uplifting - for anyone wanting a glimpse into what small-time horse racing is really like, this is a must read.
