"Saved," by Karen Winegar, is a collection of stories about rescued animals. From hamsters to horses, rescued animals have so much to teach us about love and generosity, and this collection of 28 stories showcases the best of human-animal bonds and relationships. With forwards by Jane Goodall and Temple Grandin, this is a poignant book that often raises the question "who saved who?" Some reviews: “SAVED proves once again that love rescues us all.” - Rita Mae Brown "an homage to the profound power of mutual healing. A definitive and compassionate book and essential reading for the new century." - Susan Richards, NYT best-selling author “SAVED is a graceful book full of kindness and human charity. With stories both happy and sad, the book is a beautiful reminder that our fellow creatures have gifts of their own to share with us, and that active compassion for animals makes us better people.” Matthew Scully, former Presidential speechwriter For more information about the author and the book, please visit her website at karinwinegar.com/ or visit on her facebook page.

Hello everyone, and welcome to this year's fall online auction for CANTER Mid-Atlantic There are some changes this year for those of you who have been doing this for a while. - This year everyone who lists or bids will be required to register with a valid e-mail address. We had some guest bidders last year which made organization and communication difficult.
- All items will be assigned item numbers, don't worry about this when you list, we'll be sure to take care of it. If you see your posts being edited to reflect that, that's why!
- We will be setting minimum bids for items/services of a certain value.
- If you are listing multiple items of a similar nature (like a collection of bits, or clothing in different sizes) and they are being offered individually, please post them in separate threads. This helps enormously with organization, so thanks in advance!
- Unless otherwise noted, all lessons will take place AT the trainer's farm. You must be within reasonable distance to SHIP in for these lessons.
- Certificates will be mailed to winners of services this year.
- It is VERY important that ALL sellers/donators of goods/services contact us with valid mailing addresses when they list items, to ensure that out receipt letters are sent and received in timely fashion. Please do not wait until the auction is over! Thank you!
To list an item, simply post a new thread with a description, and add photos if you'd like. If you have some limitations as to distance for shipping, or will need to charge shipping for express packages (in the case of perishable items especially), make that clear in the listing. Most of the time shipping costs are simply added and considered a donation to CANTER, so if you want to do otherwise state that up front and make sure there is a paypal or snail mail option for that part of the payment. If you are offering a service (clipping, lessons, etc) please add a geographical limit or other details. The auction will start on November 15 and last through November 22. Items may be added at any time before or during the auction. A note about TAX INFORMATIONCANTER Mid-Atlantic is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, which means donations are tax deductible. For the purposes of auctions like these, that means that donated items and services are deductible. Winning bidders, however, are receiving something in return for their donation, and so these contributions are not tax deductible. If you are donating goods or services please make sure to contact us with your name and address so that we can send you a donation letter. You can do that via PM to me or via email to kelly.utter@gmail.com (make sure to have "auction donation" in the subject line). Payment and mailing information will be posted prior to the auction starting. Please read all information carefully before bidding. Thank you!
